Can 5,500 RPM Landing Gear Motor for Camper be Upgraded to Faster Setup

Question:

My fifth wheel trailer landing gear moves real slow. The old one was fairly quick, my camper GVWR is 10,000 lbs loaded, tung weight is approx 2000 lbs. It was all replaced 3 years ago, hasn’t been right since. Can I grease the lower screw, I’ve greased the gears on top. Had to pull cover to do that. The motor turns at 5500 RPM.

Hey Michael, so based on what you mentioned it sounds like you have a standard Lippert/Venture/LCI style landing gear and you have the 5,500 RPM motor. We do have a higher RPM motor that you can replace it with with the part # LC141893 which turns 7,500 RPM.

Make sure the battery is in good shape and also the wiring connections as that could cause it to run slower.

@MichaelF Not easily, if you took off the foot of the landing gear leg and sprayed like a lithium grease up into the inner leg you might be able to get to the screw but even that is hard to get to.
