Can 2014 Ram with Rambox Tow Grand Design 370FLS

Question:

Good evening. I currently have a 2014 Ram with a 6.7 Cummins, Mega Cab, and Rambox. We are looking to purchase a GD 370FLS. This is our first fifth wheel and the box is not prepped. Id like to get a BandW reversible gooseneck ball and a Reese Gooseball hitch but Im not sure if it will work. Unfortunately Ive been unable to find a definitive answer on this...... If the gooseneck ball hitch will not work, my next option is the BandW sliding hitch without the rails. The pinbox hitch on the camper is a Rhino Box which I may need to replace anyway. If I replace the Rhino Box, I was thinking about the Sidewinder but I hear its a pain in the butt to hook up and it is noisy. Please let me know your thoughts asap. Thank you

Hey Aaron, thanks for all of the info you listed from your towing setup! With that I can definitely get you on the right track. So since your Ram has the Ram Boxes the only solution is to use a Sidewinder pin box replacement as that moves the pivot point high enough to allow the trailer to turn. Otherwise the pin box would hit the narrower bed rails from the Ram Boxes.

With that said, since your trailer has a Rhino Box pin box the correct Sidewinder is the part # RP34FR.

So the thing about Sidewinders is that they have to be used with hitches that attach to their rail kits with more than a center post...so that means you can't use the Companion hitch setup as that's how that goes.

Okay so that means you have to go with a hitch that uses a traditional rail and a fixed fifth wheel hitch. For that the B and W Patriot hitch # BWRVK3255 would work great. This is basically the same hitch as the Companion but for above mounted rails. Then for a rail kit you'd want the part # BWRVK2602 and that would cover that.

The last piece of the puzzle is a custom wedge for between the hitch and the Sidewinder which for that you'd want the part # SWW-06. This allows the Sidewinder to more easily connect to the fifth wheel hitch.
