Can a Yakima SkyBox 12 Roof Mount Cargo Box Still Be Used if the Rear Hinge is Removed
Question:
I have an item of 81 inches long. the inside dimension of the skybox 12 is 80 inches. I have gone to the store and measured. Can I remove the rear scissor hinge. It seems that if I do the box will still lock correctly but opening and closing will need more attention. Any ideas would be appreciated.

The interior length of the Yakima SkyBox # Y07334 can handle an item up to 84-1/2 inches long so an 81 inch long item would fit as well.
Technically the box could still function if you removed one of the hinges but doing so is likely going to void the warranty should anything go wrong.
