Can Freshwater Tank in Trailer With Crack on Top & Algae be Fixed or Replaced
Question:
I have a 2010 Heartland Edge M18 and my freshwater tank has a crack at the very top near the drivers side edge and only leaks when I fill it fully. And now it has algea growing on the bottom of the tank... I am considering replacing it and was wondering what your thoughts on the matter would be. Should I just try to tape over the crack with something like FlexTape, and then treat the tank with algecide, or is it time to replace it?

Hi Sheryl,
Excellent question, and while replacing it is certainly a viable option, I think what I would do in your situation is first try the alternative you mentioned, which is seal it up and treat the tank because the crack is just at the top. If you find out you have to replace it then fine, but sealing it and treating it is a pretty inexpensive fix that I'd give a shot.
Also, after cleaning the tank I do highly recommend using something to help prevent the algae growth, the Camco TastePure Drinking Water Freshener for RV and Marine Freshwater Tank # CAM40206.
Not sure how big your freshwater tank is, but one bottle of this is good for a 20 gallon tank.
