Troubleshooting Difficult to Slide Pace Edwards Tonneau Cover

Question:

Hi, I just install this aluminum Pace Edwards Ultra groove that I purchased from you guys. Installation went OK rail brackets took a bit of effort. Question. I lubed up the track as instructed but pulling it out to cover the bed is easy for the first couple feet and then it take some serious effort to move it to the tail gate. To close I need to get in the bed tp push it back into the canister, at least for the first few feet. Is there anything I should do to improve this situation. Does it need some alignment. Not sure how I would do that if required.

Hey Brian, so here's what Pace Edwards has told us in the past when their tonneau covers are difficult to operate:

1. There should be no more than 1/4" of side to side play on either side of the tonneu cover. This is play at the tailgate, the middle, and the bulk head of your truck. If you have more than 1/4" of play you will need to add shims to reduce the play.

2. Make sure your rails do not tilt upward or downward.

3. Lubricate the rails on the bottom.

The last thing he mentioned is that this tonneau cover is spring assisted, sometimes you might need to help it retract.
