Parts Needed To Add a 7-Way And Trailer Brake Controller On a 2020 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I have a 4 pin harness installed onto factory ready 2020 Chevy Equinox 4cyl turbo. I am looking to tow a small camper trailer, 3500 lbs. What is the tow capacity? Most trailers have a 7 pin, that includes electric brake capability. How do I modify my 4 pin to a 7 pin? Is there some wireless way? Do I need a weight distribution/sway bar kit?

According to the owners manual for your 2020 Chevy Equinox it appears you are going to be limited to a trailer weighing up to 1,000lbs when you do not have trailer brakes. I have included a snip image from your manual that shows most can only tow up to 1,500lbs with trailer brakes. If you have the 2.0L with the V92 provision then it can tow up to 3,505lbs with trailer brakes. As you only have a 4-way the 7-Way Kit # ETBC7 will provide you with the connector and wiring needed to step up to a 7-way and also install a Trailer Brake Controller # RED52VR.
