Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2013 Ford Escape

The bottom of the lift gate does not have a lip, will this rack still work?

The Thule OutWay trunk mount bike rack # TH56BV is not a fit for your 2013 Ford Escape but we have other racks that you can use, see link.

But the Yakima 3-bike racks are limited to 2 bikes because you have to use a special accessory (included) to safely mount them to the vehicle.

For a 3-bike rack that will actually hold 3 bikes I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2-3. Please note that you cannot use the electronic/motorized rear hatch with the rack in place because it will damage it.

The lower straps will need to be attached to the bottom of the hatch by slightly opening the hatch and slipping the hooks into place. I have to do this on my vehicle and it works out just fine.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical mens bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005 This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
