Troubleshooting Kwikee Series 42 RV Steps That Won't Fully Retract
Question:
I have a 1997 country coach Magna I just bought. The Kwikee series 42 steps are not retracting all the way, they lack about 8 inches going in but the do extend most of the time…. They currently have an AMI motor. I figure it is a weak motor but need your expertise..

It does seem like you would need a new motor which would be be part # LC379167 that you referenced. But I would check to make sure all of the mechanical elements of the steps are in decent shape like the gear and linkage. It's possible something is bent or worn out and that's what's preventing the step from going all the way in or out.
