Weight Distribution System Recommendation For A 2022 Ember Overland Travel Trailer
Question:
I have an ember 240tkr with a dry tongue weight of 905 6800 dry trailer, 10000 max. It has 81 gallon fresh water tank. I’m towing with a 2018 ford raptor with Deaver heavy duty leafs, they are 2” higher than oem and allow 500lb more bed weight than oem. I’m looking at the curt 17501, is this a good option?

Hey Jeff, cool trailer. It sounds like you are already on the right track here, because the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501 is definitely a good option for your Ember 240TKR travel trailer.
This system is intended for trailers with a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. Generally, the tongue weight of a travel trailer will be 10%-15% of the total weight. it sounds like your trailer is going to be a bit heavier on the tongue, so I am thinking you may be closer to the 15% for your tongue weight. With 10,000 lbs being the max weight, it stands to reason that you would be within that 1,000 lb - 1,500 lb range at all times.
This means that you will get good results and effective weight distribution using the Curt TruTrack System # C17501. It will help to level your ride, improve handling and prevent sway. Curt makes a good solid weight distribution system. I always prefer a system that uses L-brackets that bolt directly to the frame, just like this Curt system. They are easier to install, quieter and more effective than systems that use chains.
