Will Exceeding Axle Capacity Bend an Axle

Question:

I have a 5 th wheal RV with a dry weight of 9,484 lb + cargo capacity of 2,732 lb . I have 2 5200 lb Lippert axles under it and was wondering if these were capable of this load . The hitch weight is 1,875 lb.the reason Im asking is because I know I have never exceeded the total weight of12,216 lb but Ive got a bent axel and spindle Ive only had this RV about 18 months and pulled less than 10,000 miles .

Based on the calculations you gave me, you did exceed your axle capacities. Your total trailer weight after cargo is 12,216 lbs yet you only have axle capacity of 10,400 lbs.

As I'm sure you know you will need to replace your bent axle, but I cannot safely recommend you exceed your axle capacity. If you check the sticker or plate near the coupler of the trailer the axle capacities and trailer capacities should be listed there.
