Parts Neede to Add Surco Safari Rack 5.0 to 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe
Question:
I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe and Im looking at the following Surco Safari Rack products. I would like to know what mounting equipment I need to attach the cargo basket to my roof rails. The roof rails are not raised and have fixed mounting points, where two bolts have to be removed. Im looking at these products and would like to confirm they will all work together with my Tahoes roof system. The rails run the length of the vehicle but there are no cross rails, Id prefer not to add cross rails if possible trying to keep the height of the vehicle as low as possible. 601.57 Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket - 72 Long x 50 Wide - Item S5072 What is the appropriate roof mounting equipment? I have rails that have fixed mount points, where you remove two bolts from the rail. 123.18 Surco Floor Kit for Safari 5.0 Roof Basket - SPS5084 - Item SP1114 Surco Axe and Shovel Kit Is there an option for a folding ladder that would work with the Surco Safari Rack?

Expert Reply:
The Surco Safari Rack 5.0 # S5072 is the correct model for your 2017 Chevy Tahoe. However, you won't be able to mount this using your existing rails. What you need is the Surco Roof Rail Adapters for Factory Roof Racks # R6200 along with the Adapter for Surco Safari Roof Racks # SPCH100.
The correct floor kit for this basket is the # SU46SR. The Ax and Shovel Carrier # SPAX100 will also fit. We do not have a folding ladder specifically made for this rack. You could use something like the Folding Ladder for Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform Racks # RRRAFL but you would have to find a way to mount it.
