Troubleshooting Curt Echo Brake Controller Where Brakes go To Max Setting Immediately
Question:
I have a Curt Echo brake controller, been using it weekly to pull a camper for about 6 months now without any issue. Today, however, when I press ANY amount of brake via the pedal the apps ring that indicates how much brake is being applied, goes MAX, when it used to only light up maybe half way. If I press the button on the app manually it operates normally not max brake I have adjusted the max output down a bunch to make it not lock my brakes up, but the ring is still showing MAX every time the brake is applied. Have rebooted phone, powered the CURT down and back up by unplugging it and plugging it back in and reconnecting. What can I do to fix this as its undriveable at low speeds and dangerous at high speeds.

Hey Ryan, so usually when this problem occurs it's because one of the stop/turn circuits is shorting out to the brake output circuit which then causes the brakes to get full 12 volts anytime the stoplights would get activated normally. An easy way to test this is to put on the blinkers to see if the brakes pulse with one of them. Usually this is a short in wiring between the two circuits that causes this from cut or exposed wiring so inspecting those two circuits and fixing as needed would take care of that.
If that is not problem the controller is bad based on that and what you've already tried.
