Does 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 OEM Brake Controller Need Module to Work with Hydrastar Actuator

Question:

I just bought a 2024 Chevrolet 3500 chassis cab with a built-in brake controller. I have a Hba-10 Carlisle braking system on my cattle trailer the HBA – 10 is gold in color. I was wondering if I need a modular to run my brakes

Hey Asa, thanks for reaching out!

According to Hydrastar any of the GM vehicles made after 2017 do not need the Adapter Module # HBA-CAM for an OEM controller to work with their actuators.

With that being said...every once in a while we'll have someone with compatibility issues with a newer GM vehicle OEM brake controller and a Hydrastar actuator but it's always random. So what we normally tell people is to take your whole rig for a little test drive in an open area (like a big parking lot) where you can really make sure the trailer brakes work correctly. If something seems to be off then you'll want to use the module, but according to Hydrastar you don't need it.
