Roadmaster Tow Defender or Blue Ox KarGard For Blue Ox Tow Bar
Question:
I am looking to purchase protection for my RV and a tow vehicle for our upcoming trip to Alaska. We have a Blue OX Ascent towbar that we connect to our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Our RV is a 2021 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH. I watched a couple of your videos and I like the Blue Ox KarGard and the Roadmaster Tow Defender for the Blue Ox. Also, any required accessories needed for installation. If you have different recommendations for protection, please advise me of those. Thank you in advance.

Hey Richard; that's a good question and I think between the two, the best option for use with your Blue Ox tow bar is definitely the Roadmaster option:
- Roadmaster Tow Defender # RM-4750
There are a couple reasons I like the Tow Defender # RM-4750 over the Blue Ox KarGard # BX8870, starting just with overall coverage. The Tow Defender is 75-3/4" wide while the KarGard is 72" wide, so you're getting a bit more protection for your Jeep. The Tow Defender is also going to be easier to store as you can roll it up compared to the KarGard which obviously cannot roll up. The KarGard also has more opportunities to possibly break as it is a hard plastic, which isn't going to happen with the Tow Defender's mesh screen.
So I would go with the Tow Defender, but no matter which you choose, nothing extra is needed for installation; both will fit your Blue Ox tow bar right out of the box.
