How to Stop the L-Brackets of a Fastway FA94-00-0800 W/D Hitch From Moving on the Trailer Frame

Question:

I have an e2 round w/ 800 lb bars. I also have a 2014 Lance 1685. The wdh came w/ the trailer, but the trailer brackets are larger than the depth of the trailer frame. Consequently, the brackets shift over time. Its my understanding that you also make brackets that will fit this smaller frame. Please let me know how I can get them. Thanks, Vince

Sorry Vince but we do not have shorter brackets for the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System item # FA94-00-0800. Just the standard Replacement Sway-Control Bracket item # EQ95-01-5600.

The Fastway brackets have had a history of coming loose and sliding. Their recommendation is to make sure the bolts are tightened perfectly even. If the bolts aren't tightened so they're even, the link plates that the L-bracket attaches to won't place even pressure against the trailer frame and therefore won't stay in place.

Fastway recommends running the nuts down as tight as you can get them with your fingers then alternating back and forth tightening each by one turn until you reach the final torque of 65 foot/lbs on both nuts. This will ensure that the clamping force is equally distributed between the upper and lower bolt.
