Looking For Replacement 2,500 lb Axle For A 1997 Fleetwood Mallard 24J

Question:

I asked a question the other day but I’m not sure if it went through. I spoke to Jesse m last week but I didn’t have the information I needed at the time and I’m trying to just follow up and get an answer from then. I’m looking for a replacement axle for my camper. Here is the picture of the tag. I can’t find any Information about it other than that it’s a 2500 pound axle.

Hey Andrew thanks for the pictures. That axle tag has certainly seen better days. From what I can see it says Dexter Axle SLR 2500 lb. My best guess is the serial number says 1769444. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to determine the hub face length by looking at this tag. Your best bet will be to measure the hub face length and spring center length of the current axle.

I will tell you up front that we do not offer any 2,500 lb axles so we do not have a direct replacement for this. We do have some 3,500 lb axles, like the Dexter Axle # 35545I-EZ-89, which may be a suitable substitute. We just need to be sure the hub face length is a match. Also, this would require you to replace both axles, which could mean replacing hubs, wheels and tires as well. If you want to replace only the 1 axle, I suggest contacting dexter directly, as they offer a much larger selection of axle sizes.
