Choosing Tonneau Cover With Best Height Under Cover for 2023 Tacoma Long Bed

Question:

Im looking for a tonneau cover for my 2023 Tacoma long-bed. The Lomax, BAK, and Leer look good to me but Id consider others. Id like to maximize the height from bed to bottom of cover so Id like some recommendations about which one would give me the most height under the cover. Thanks.

The height from the bed to the cover isn't something the manufacturers measure or that I am able to find. The difference between covers to be minimal since they all have similar designs and installation processes. However, the Lomax # AB1050029 likely sits a little higher with a top of bed rails mount. This sticks up 1/2" above the bed rails.

Personally I would go with the BAKFlip F1 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK72427. This cover has 5/8" thick fiberglass-reinforced panels with an aluminum base so it is extremely durable. This also helps it stay cooler than an all-aluminum cover. It is worth noting if you think you may add a ladder rack at some point they are only compatible with covers that mount inside the bed rails like this one.
