Will Bully Ball Mount Hitch Backup Lights Work on a 2006 Chevy Tahoe and How to Install

Question:

I want to get my father in law some backup lights for his 2006 Tahoe. He has a standard factory installed hitch on his Tahoe so the wiring plug is adjacent driverside to the hitch mount. Based on your video, Im not sure if your product will fit his vehicle. Does it?? How? Thanks.

The fixture slips over a ball mount and uses a set screw to stay in place. This kit does not connect to a standard 4-Way wiring connector as a 4-Way does not have a signal for reverse lights.

You would have to wire the kit as shown in the video. The wiring kit in the video comes with 3 wire leads. The first is the black wire with the ring terminal. This is the ground wire that needs to be attached to the vehicle body or frame. Next, the white wire, needs to be connected to the vehicle reverse light circuit. Remove the taillights and using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, find which wire is the reverse lights and connect the white wire there.

The red wire is optional. It is used to provide power to lights if you want to use them when the car is not in reverse. The wire would be run up to the vehicle battery with a fuse holder in line, and the light could be turned on by the switch on the back of the fixture. If you only want these lights to come on when in reverse, omit the red wire and just tape it out of the way.

As long as your father-in-law has a ball mount for his hitch, this will work.
