Determining How To Wire Separate Brake Lights On Trailer 7-Way From Turn Signals
Question:
I have a 7 pin junction box for a trailer installed. I understand which wire operate which lights on the trailer, i saw a work around on splitting the brake and turn signal operation by buying a vehicle to vehicle converter which i ordered and is on way. However, i am curious if i can save myself some coin on the converter by just simply attaching my brake lights after running new wire the electric brake pole on my 7 pin j box? Will that allow me to operate my electric brakes and brake lights, separate from my turn signals?

Sorry Justin I am a little confused by what you are asking. To start it sounds like your trailer has separate turn signal from brake lights which are likely going to require you to use a 2-Wire to 3-Wire Converter # C56196 to separate the turn signals from the brake lights at the back of your trailer. As far as operating your electric brakes that will require a Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 on your tow vehicle. The trailer brakes are separate from the brake lights on trailers since the control box determines how much power to send to the brakes only. Where your tail lights operate off the brake pedal function.
