Completing Wiring Connections At Brake Magnets When Installing Trailer Brake Assemblies
Question:
I bought new 12x2inch Dexter brake assemblies entire axle ends from you a week ago and I want to be absolutely sure that when I reconnect the wires to the new axle ends, I dont have to be concerned about which new magnet wire connects to which old trailer-side wire. It makes sense to me that it shouldnt matter because the magnet is just a coil of wire that has to have current flowing through it to work, but I am struggling with the fact that I might end up with a different power wire at each wheel. Am I worrying about nothing? Thank you.

You're certainly on the right track. It doesn't matter in the least which of the two brake magnets wires carries the output voltage from the brake controller and which one is grounded to the trailer frame. Continue your installation and fear no more!
Be sure to examine the inside armature surface of your brake drums, make sure the surface is smooth, and not grooved. The presence of grooves will prevent the magnet from getting a good grip on the inside of the drum, and your braking won't be as good as it could be. The grooves will also cause premature wear to your brake magnet.
I've linked you to a video showing the wiring connections at the brake magnet.
