Weight Ratings for Ladder Racks on 2017 Ram 2500

Question:

I’m looking at buying truck bed rack for my 2017 ram 2500 some racks have low weight like 220 lbs is that for how much the tent weighs while driving around? Cause if the tent weighs 200 lbs how are people suppose to get into it ? It doesn’t state anywhere how much it hold stationary

Many of our ladder racks only show an on-road and off-road weight rating which is what you're seeing. Most of the time that is the rating people are looking for since they're using it to haul equipment around with them. The static rating is typically higher and for most of our ladder racks it is listed in the instructions.

The Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack # Y01152-58 you looked at has a static load rating of 800 lbs. The same is true for the Yakima OverHaul HD # Y01151-58. If the tent weighs 200 lbs you would still have 400 lbs to hold the people inside. The OutPost HD Overland is great for a tent since it sits 13" above the truck bed rails. If you would like something more versatile, the OverHaul HD adjusts down to 19" but can extend up to 30" if you want to use it for other purposes.
