Hitch, Trailer Wiring Harness and Brake Controller Recommendations for 2013 Honda Pilot

The 2013 Honda Pilot came from the factory already equipped with a hitch. In the middle of the rear bumper, there is a small panel that is removable. Once the panel is removed, the hitch receiver will be visible. You would also need a ballmount like part # C45010 and a 2 inch # 63845 or 1-7/8 inch # 19260 trailer ball. You'll also need a pin and clip, part # PC3 or a locking hitch pin like part # e98882 to secure the ballmount in the receiver.

A trailer wiring harness with a 7-way connector can be installed using part # 118265. The wiring harness doesn't include a mounting bracket, but most of our customers install the connector by using a 2 inch hole saw to drill a hole in the bumper and install the trailer connector along side the receiver opening.

For a brake controller, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The controller is extremely easy to use, and would install in seconds using the # 3070-P wiring adapter. One end of the adapter plugs into the connector just under and to the right of the steering column as shown in the instructions I've linked.
