3,500 lbs seems way too light, but if that actually is the GVWR then you're going to want to use something like the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66558.

This WDS has a tongue weight range of 400 lbs to 600 lbs which is ideal since you'd want a system that has your trailer tongue weight somewhere in the middle of that range (10-15% of 3,500 | 350-525 lbs).

Although to get the most accurate system you're going to need to fully load your trailer as if you were heading out and weigh your trailer - that tongue weight number would be what you'd need to use to pick out your system.

Thanks Bryce great info. Last question. Say I want to upgrade my trailer to about 5000 pounds with the system that you suggested would it be OK to use this?

@Upgrade The Reese # RP66558 is going to be a bit too small for a 5,000 lb trailer, so you'd want to upgrade to the next step up with # RE94FR.
