Wiring In A Furrion Arctic RV Refrigerator

Question:

I am about to replace our absorption refrigerator with this 12 V Furrion Arctic 15.6 Cu Ft side by side. I will need to wire it up to our DC distribution panel. I have a couple of questions in this regard. 1 I see 3 wires in the pictures shown on this web site Red, White and Green since one of those is Ground and the other is a positive what is the third one for? Which color is which? 2 What size fuse should I put in that slot? It will be a dedicated circuit. 3 Is 14 gauge wiring adequate? Thanks Phillip V

Hi Phillip,

The Furrion Arctic RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer # FR42PJ is going to come with a red, white, and green wire. The red wire is your positive, white is your negative, and green is your ground. Both the white and red can be ran to the DC distribution panel and the green can be mounted directly to the frame with a ring terminal. We've found with RV fridges that attaching the ground to the frame right below it tends to avoid some issues.

The fridge has a 19amp draw so a 20 amp fuse would be enough to protect your fridge. At this size I do recommend only having the fridge running to that DC fuse port. The gauge of the wire is going to change depending on the length you need to run it so I've snipped a little section from the manual showing what you'll need.

Thanks Kevin. your answer was perfect but I am not able to open the attachment on the wiring gauge. I am only going 8 to 10 feet to the DC Distribution panel.

@PhillipV No problem, here's what the chart says: 15' or less - 10AWG 15' to 25' - 8AWG 25' to 40' - 6AWG Since you're only going 8' to 10' 10AWG # 10-1-1 would be sufficient.
