How to Use a Reese 5th Wheel Hitch for the Ram Puck System on Industry Standard Rails

Question:

I have 1 2020 ram 3500 dually with factory tow package. I bought a rese 27k toe hitch that fits with the factory pucks. Is there a rail adapter that I can put in my 2000 f250 7.3l diesel to fit this hitch?

There's not an adapter but there is a way to mount your Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # RP37FR to a set of 5th wheel rails in your 2000 Ford F-250. You can swap out the legs that fit the Ram puck system with the Replacement Legs for Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # RP96FR. These legs have the same 27,000 lbs capacity and work with industry standard base rails.

The Replacement Legs item # RP96FR swap out pretty easily so it wouldn't take too long to get the ones for the Ram puck system back on when you want to tow with your Ram dually.

What rails would I need for my 2000 Ford f250 long bed 7.3l diesel with the parts (legs) you recommend?

@Michae To add a set of 5th wheel rails to your 2000 Ford F-250 you'll want to use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # RP50082-58. These are custom fit for your truck. After you install the rails you'll need the Replacement Legs for Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # RP96FR.
