Question:

I need a fifth wheel hitch for my 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. My RV is a 2011 Keystone Cougar 291RLS My truck does not have the puck system or gooseneck ball. My truck has a 6 10 bed. I will also need the rail system designed for my truck. Thank you

With this truck bed configuration (6-3/4) on your 2024 Silverado 2500, you'll need a slider hitch so that you can make turns properly without the trailer making contact with your truck. I recommend the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 due to it's well-known durability and excellent quality, and it's made in USA.

For the rail kit, I would go with B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2505 because they are great quality and USA made, but also because they are Custom made for your vehicle, meaning no drilling required and an easier install.

Thanks Andrew. The B & W seems like a great product. What are the advantages of the Patriot compared with the Companion hitch?

@FrankC The Patriot and Companion are basically the same, aside from how they attach to the truck bed. The Companion that fits your truck # BWRVK3775 is only a fit if your truck has the OEM prep package (puck system), which you said it doesn't have. So you'll need to stick with the Patriot.

@AndrewN Thanks Andrew. My brother in law has the Companion but he does have a gooseneck ball in the center of the bed that it attaches to. So the Patriot is the correct one for my truck. Do I need a slider or could I get by with a non-sliding unit?

@FrankC Hi Andrew, I spoke directly to GMC and they told me that my 2024 Chevy Silverado 6' 10" bed are designed in such a way that they do NOT need a sliding hitch. Could you direct me to a Patriot fixed non sliding fifth wheel hitch with rail system or a Curt 20,000 A20 fixed hitch with rail system? Thanks
