What Dimensions are Needed for Setting Fifth Hitch Height

Question:

I have a Ford F350 super duty long bed. I got a bandw companion 5th wheel hitch RVK3500. I understand to measure the king pin plate to the ground, mine is 47.5, them measure the ground to the truck bed, mine is 42, what measurement do I use on the hitch? I am alittle confused about the 16 1/4inch to 18 1/4inch measurements, thank you

Hey Bill, it sounds like you might have measured from the top of the bed rails to the ground and not the truck bed. 5 inches is pretty normal between the bed rail and king pin plate so what you should do is measure from the bed floor of your truck bed down to the ground and then take the difference of that and the king pin dimension you took That will be the correct height setting to use for the 5th wheel hitch.
