Best Atwood G6A-8E-SP Water Heater Replacement

Question:

I have a Atwood G6A-8E-SP it is an old propane only water heater in our Airstream. We had converted it using the Hott Rod. Worked for about a year and is now dead. What are our options to replace it with an electric only version, tank or tankless?

Great to hear from you again, John!

I'm a sucker for the tankless water heaters simply because they have a higher performance than the older tank-style water heaters so I definitely recommend going tankless. Just to give you an idea of the performance, the 60,000 Btu unit from Furrion is able to produce 144 gallons of hot water an hour without having to wait for a tank to fill up and heat up to get your hot water.

The Furrion system is the best way to go and for that we have a few different options based off of the door/opening size you need:

- 16" x 16" Door # FR98SR
- 16" x 18" Door # FR48SR
- 18" x 18" Door # FR68SR

Is there an electric only option. Prefer to not use propane.

@John Sorry, I forgot to respond to that part of your question. It looks like there are some small mini-water heaters on the market that are electric only, those are more for smaller applications like attaching it to a sink. For larger applications like an RV you'll need to use a heater that utilizes propane like what I mentioned above.
