Replacement Coupler for an Older Gooseneck Trailer Latch System
Question:
I have an older gooseneck trailer with a connector that I cant find a match for. The latching piece looks to be rusted to where it wont engage the ball to latch. It has a bale that that swings down to latch the coupler onto a 2 5/16 gooseneck ball and swings up and back to release. I have pictures if that would be helpful. Can you tell me what parts I need to fix it?

Thanks for the photos, Rickey!
That is definitely an older style of gooseneck coupler and while I do have a solution for you to get your gooseneck trailer back in working order, we unfortunately don't have any repair latch kit for the style you have on your trailer.
What I recommend doing is having an experienced welder cut off your current coupler and weld on the 20K capacity Bulldog Coupler Repair Kit for 2-5/16" Ball # BD0287740300. This gives you a lockable coupler with a newer style that's much more common than what you have on your current setup.
If you don't have a shop you're comfortable working with on this then I recommend checking out our installer locator link I'm attaching to this page to see who in your area is able to handle this type of installation.
