Troubleshooting Remote Start Issues With A Firman P08007 Generator

Question:

I have a firman P08007. Sometimes the generator will not start with the remote. When I go out to the generator the red indiacator light is flashing. I can then start it by pushing the start button. This is a brand new replacement remote. I might use the remote an hour later and it will start.

A red flashing indicator light on your Firman Generator # 333-P08003 indicates that there's an issue with your unit. Is the unit starting fine when not using the remote? When it comes to the remote start Firman's only troubleshooting steps are to make sure the remote is close enough (164'), that it has fresh batteries, and to ensure that the remote is properly programmed to the generator.

I recommend checking the battery first since the remote could've sat for awhile before you purchased it and the battery is just low enough to give you signal issues between the remote and generator, but have enough left to start it sometimes.

The owner's manual lists how to program the remote to the generator and also has generic troubleshooting steps (checking the spark plug, gas, battery, etc.) that you'll want to follow to start ruling out components that could cause this issue.
