Adding An AC Unit To An Enclosed Car Trailer

Question:

I have an enclosed car trailer for my car racing. I’m interested in installing an ac however I’m not certain if trailer AC’s are specific different from RV. If such is the case do you have AC’s for car trailers?

Trailer ACs and RV ACs are the same thing. There are different brands out there such as Furrion, Dometic, Coleman and Advent Air to name a few. All of these brands are quite similar in that they are made to fit the standard 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" roof opening. Also virtually all RV air conditioners are rated for either 13,500 or 15,000 BTU.

If you are looking to add a complete AC system to your car trailer, our best option is the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR35PV. This is a complete Ac system so you get your 13,500 BTU AC unit, controller, distribution box and wall thermostat. Keep in mind that the Furrion RV air conditioners will only fit roofs 3-1/2" to 6" thick, so the roof thickness of your car trailer may need to be increased. We usually would do this by creating a wooden frame around the cutout hole. You will also want to be sure that the roof is strong enough to support an Ac unit weighing about 80 lbs, plus the weight of whatever kind of support structure or framing is added.
