It appears you are going to have a custom hitch fabricated for your 1983 Jeep Cherokee using a Weld-On Receiver # E17. I recommend visiting a custom fabrication shop near you to discuss what the best option may be and to inspect your chassis to ensure there is no severe corrosion which may need to be addressed.
The Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236 is a universal 4-way wiring harness which will draw power from your vehicle battery to reduce strain on your factory harness. If you are going to be pulling larger trailers which require a Brake Controller # 90195, you will also need our 7-Way Kit # ETBC7. This kit will connect to the 4-way and includes wiring for the brake controller and a charge line.
