Can Two 8 Foot Long Tandem Bikes be Carried at the Back of an RV

Question:

Hello, This summer we are stay in the Rocky Mountains with a rented rv. We are thinking about taking our two tandems with us to explore the US? Now we are looking for a system to carry the two tandems at the back of the rv. Do you know if something like that is possible? The lengh of the tandems is 250 cm. The best will by if there is a system we can rent by our rv but if nessesary we can also buy it our selfes in the US? Thank you for your reaction

First, a 250 cm bike by my calculations is over 8 feet wide. Depending on the RV the bikes could overhang the RV and cause clearance issues with other vehicles so you will want to be very cautious about that.

If the RV has a 4 inch to 4-1/2 inch continuously welded steel bumper that is rated for carrying the weight of the bikes it is possible that you could use bike rack # S80605 to hold the tandem bikes. This is a 2-bike version of the rack you referenced. The bumper would also have to be long enough to mount the two halves of the rack far enough apart for the long wheelbases of the tandem bikes.
