Installation of a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2006 Ford F-150

What would I need to install a trailer brake system on my 2006 Ford F150 that did not come with factory tow package.

You will need the following items to install a brake controller on your 2006 F-150 without a trailer towing package.

First you will need a brake controller, I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 part # 90885. You will also want the wiring adapter that is a direct plug in application for your truck # 3035-P, it will install under the dash.

Finally you will need the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, item # 37185, which will plug into your existing 4-Way connector. You will then need to splice into the wiring behind the factory connection for the 4-Way (see video) and connect to the Brake feed wire and the 12 volt power feed. If you need the reverse circuit connected to the center pole you will need to attach the remaining wire, behind the vehicle taillight, to the reverse light circuit.
