I'm seeing multiple dimensions for the Atwood GE16EXT RV water heater and all of them are quite a bit larger than the current models that we offer. With the change over to tankless systems manufacturers have also decreased the size as technology advances. Because of this you'll likely have to frame in the opening in order for a new unit to fit and will then need to purchase additional material to cover the gap.

The best water heater we currently offer is going to be the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR68SR that you were already looking at. This comes with an 18" x 18" door to help cover some of the gap but you may need additional material to fill in the rest. If this is the case I recommend finding a composite sheet that you can can cut to cover the entirety of the hole with enough excess to shoot some screws through it to mount it in place and you'll need to cut a hole in the center of it large enough to fit the new unit.

I recommend using butyl tape # AL28FJ on all mounting flanges (composite panel, water heater, access door) and some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outer edges to help prevent any water from leaking in. I've attached a short video below where Jake will help walk you through the installation process.
