Replacing A Jensen AWM960 RV Stereo System With A Jensen JWM60A
Question:
I am considering the JWM60A to replace my old AWM960, but looking at the wiring diagrams for each, it doesnt make any sense. The old unit has a ground, 12v Battery, 12v Ign, and a 12v trigger. The new unit only has a ground, a 12v switched and an amp remote. Obviously the ground is a given, but the4 rest make no sense as to how to wire them

The Jensen RV Stereo w DVD Player # JWM60A require a bit less to install than your previous system. The red wire will need to be connected to your 12v power source and the blue wire would connect to an external amplifier. The black wire is your ground and the rest of the wiring is ran to your speakers. The remaining wires for your old unit can be taped off and saved for a later date if you ever replace the unit with another stereo that does require these wires. This will save you the hassle of having to run new wires. I recommend taping them off with some painters tape and then label the tape with a marker with the wire function.
I've attached diagrams below of both systems to make swapping over the speaker wires easier.
