How to Determine Correct Replacement For AL-KO 8460 Hub & Drum

Question:

I recently bought a WW 12 x 6 used stock trailer which was a tandem axle from the factory. The previous owners cut the front axle off, leaving only the rear axle. I’m guessing it is a 4400# axle. The drums are AL-KO with several different numbers 5j12 and 8460 along with max dia 12.090 in. It is a six lug pattern. I’m not having luck with finding what I’m looking for as I’m more familiar with dexter axles and parts. I would like to change to an 8x6.5 lug pattern so all my trailers will be able to utilize the same rims and tires. I also included a picture of the vin plate on the trailer.

Past customers have told us the AL-KO 8460 uses inner bearing 25580 and outer bearing 15123, which would make the right replacement hub and drum the following:

- Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-9UC3-EZ

This hub says it is for EZ-Lube axles but also comes with a standard grease cap for non-EZ-Lube axles. It also has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern as there isn't a hub with an 8-bolt pattern with these bearings. That said, I could not verify this (we don't have a way to look up parts with a VIN), so I do recommend removing the hub and measuring your spindle with a digital caliper like in the diagram I attached.

Bearing 25580 has a 1.75" inner diameter and bearing 15123 has a 1.25" inner diameter so that's what the spindle should measure where those bearings ride. I realize doing so is a pain but it's the only way to be 100% sure this is the right part. If for some reason # 8-201-9UC3-EZ is incorrect I have added a link below to our entire selection of hub and drums for you.
