Can the Progressive Dynamics 4500 Series Converter Charge Lithium Batteries

Question:

I have the older version pd4575k18LS8. Unfortunately it does not appear I have Lithium Option on this unit, correct? I want to purchase a new Thermal Breaker to have on hand in case of failure on the Auto Reset breaker currently installed. I need to know what Amps that breaker should be and nothing I’ve read specifies this for me. I am considering a 100 amp Blue Sea Thermal Breaker. Would this be correct? Thanks in advance

Actually your Progressive Dynamics 4500 Series Inteli-Power Converter # PD4575K18LS8 can handle Lithium batteries - there is a switch on the board for this.

As far as breakers go, I was able to find that you'd only need a 20A breaker for this unit, and the main auto breaker is 50A so a 100A breaker would be overkill. Also, Blue Sea is not on Progressive Dynamics list of approved breakers.

Right now, the list of approved breakers is:

- ITE/Siemens – QP, QT
- Thomas & Betts – TB & TBBD series
- Square D – HOM & HOMT series
- Cutler Hammer/Bryant – BR & BRD series
- GE – HACR series
