Using a hair dryer on the channel # B51206 can sometimes help make a smoother transition for the Bestop Bikini Top # B5254201 but I wouldn't use any lubrications without reaching out to Bestop first to ensure that it won't have a negative reaction to the fabric. Vaseline would also allow dirt and debris to stick to it so it's best to avoid using lubrications like this. When installing fabrics into a c-channel I'll usually take a pair of needle nose pliers to the opening of the c-channel and try to spread it open a bit more. Then I'll have an extra set of hands hold the fabric straight in line with the channel as I slide it through to prevent any binding.
