Is The Tekonsha P2, P3 or Redarc Tow-Pro a Better Brake Controller For a 2014 GMC Acadia

Question:

I have a 2014 GMC Acadia that I will be pulling a 6x12 foot enclosed cargo trailer with. Has a gross weight of 2,990. I have factory tow package and have already accessed factory trailer plug under dash for brake controller. Do I need the P2 or P3 controller. I cant tell difference on site. I would like to be able to take out when not towing. I see the P3 has a quick clip for easy removal. I will only have the one trailer. Thanks

Personally I prefer the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 over the P2 # 90885. Both of these do have the mounts which allow you to remove the controller when not needed. They will both connect to your factory tow package using the Pigtail # 3026-P. The main reason I prefer the P3 is the easy to read LCD screen which also has diagnostic capabilities built in should you have an issue with the trailer brakes down the road.

In the event don't want to deal with having to install and remove the controller we do offer the Redarc # RED24FR which uses a much smaller dash mounted control knob. The main unit will mount behind the dash and this controller is also proportional like the Tekonsha above. It will require the Pigtail # RED27FR as it does have a different connector on the controller.
