Does the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid Need a Charge Line Kit for Flat Towing

Question:

I have a 2023 Hybrid Ford Maverick that I am using to flat tow behind my Motorhome. The second trip out, our Maverick battery died. Not sure if it is new user learning curve yet or if we may have a problem. A few people have mentioned getting a charge line installed. Is this something we should look into and what does a charge line do? We have a 7-6 pin connector. We use the Blue Ox ll Patriot Braking system. Thank you

Different vehicles "react" different ways when being flat towed and according to my research your 2023 Ford Maverick will naturally drain the battery during flat towing so you need install the Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to get some 12V power from your motorhome battery to the battery on your Maverick and keep it from dying, especially with the Patriot brake system pulling power from your battery as well. This will be the battery under the passenger set on your Hybrid.

If your motorhome doesn't have 12V power present on the socket then you'll also need the motorhome side of the charge line kit which is found as part # RM-156-75.

I'm attaching a photo of the wiring diagram for the charge line kit on the 6-Way socket of your vehicle for your reference.
