I recommend going with a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR as you will be able to use it in different vehicles you may tow. Since different states and providences can have different laws regarding either the amount of weight or the required braking distance the safest bet is to just get the system. This way you will not have to deal with having the Miata weighed or stopping distance tested every time you get questioned.
