How Does The Roadmaster Even Brake Receive Its Input Signal To Activate Braking On a 2004 Honda CR-V

Question:

I am planning to tow a 2004 Honda CRV that has had a Curt 58949 taillight wiring harness installed. There is a 6 way female receptacle installed at the front of the car. The former owner towed the vehicle without a supplementary braking system. I would like to use the umbilical and the existing Curt light set up if possible. Everything is already there including a 12 volt battery maintainer. Hooked to my 2008 Phoenix Cruiser 2550 the lights on the toad work perfectly. Now....If I am correct, the RV brake, turn signals and taillights are all routed through the Curt wiring harness. If the Even Brake system is not tied into the Curt system how does it recieve a braking signal to activate? I am not an engineer, but it seems to me that just tying into the towed vehicle braking system without any connection to the Curt harness will not work. Maybe I am missing something, Lord knows that has happened before...but I want to be sure...splicing into the cold brake wire on the 2004 CRV is a bear...so I dont want to do it if avoidable. Thank you again for your time

The Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System # RM-9400 does not use a brake light signal to activate but instead uses its internal inertia sensor to sense when the motorhome brakes and then activates the brakes. It will come with a Brake Lite Relay # RM-88400 which is needed on your 2004 Honda CR-V. This relay is required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes.
