Recommended Bike Rack For Two Lectric E-Bikes On A Flat Towed 2015 Honda CR-V
Question:
We have a 2015 Honda CRV with a 2inch hitch which we flat tow behind our motorhome. We recently purchased 2 Lectric step through e-bikes. Each one weights 64lbs with the 7lb battery installed and the tires are 3. We are looking to purchase a bike rack in the $500 range to carry our e-bikes. It is important to have access to the cargo area on our CRV so we would need it to be able to tilt with the bikes installed. Any advice and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When it comes to the weight of the e-bikes most racks will not allow you keep the bikes on and tilt the rack down. To be able to properly support your Lectric bikes on your flat towed CR-V, and still stay in your price range, the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # S94FR is going to be the best option. It has a 70lb per bike capacity so there's plenty of extra capacity if you added on any other accessories. That being said, you should never travel with the battery installed on your bikes, it should always be stored in your vehicle when traveling.
The cradles can fit up to a 3" wide tires and fat tire adapters # S64679 can be purchased later on if you ever switch over to wider tires. The ratcheting hooks can sometimes work even with step-thru frame bikes but you might want to pick up some frame adapters # S57FR to ensure that you're getting a secure grip of the frame. This unfortunately doesn't tilt so you would have to remove the bikes and lower the center mast to gain access to the cargo area of your CR-V. I know it doesn't check every single box but it's going to give you the best value for a reasonable price compared to most other e-bike rated bike racks.
