Is There A Quality Difference Between Older And Newer 7-Way Cable Plugs

Is this style of plug 7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer Side Item # A7WCB better than the older style plug. why the difference?

I wouldn't say there's really a better option when it comes to 7-way plugs; it really just comes down to cutting costs and making a durable product. Older metal 7-way plugs tend to corrode over time so switching to a molded ABS plastic, like the # A7WCB, will help extend the life of the plug so that you hopefully don't have to replace it.
