BAKFlip F1 Tonneau Cover For A 2023 Ram 1500 Classic

Question:

Im trying to reuse my Bakflip f1 from my 2002 dodge 2500 8foot bed on my 2023 ram 1500 classic 8foot bed. After installing the rails and putting the cover on the 3rd and 4th panel do not close all the way. They are too wide to fit between the rails. After double checking everything, I measured the width and noticed that the width is narrower at the tailgate than it is at the cab. The difference is over an inch. Have I done something wrong in the installation? Does the bed narrow from cab to tailgate? If the bed does narrow, do the new covers allow for the change in width?

Expert Reply:

Ram beds do have a taper from the bulkhead down to the tailgate and there will typically be a change every decade that makes older model covers incompatible with the newer beds so it's normal that you cover isn't matching up. For your 2023 Ram you would need the # BAK72204 instead of the current model that you have.
