Troubleshooting a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Showing a N.C. Error Code
Question:
I have a teshona brake controller. It usually shows one red dot when I am not pulling the trailer. Recently it will suddenly display n.c. while driving and then my tow vehicle 2009 Nissan Pathfinder will have the brake lights stuck on, the cruise control stops working, and the tow vehicle goes into limp mode. Can the brake controller do this?

The N.C. code on your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 means that a trailer is not connected. Since it was working before and now is now not working then there is an issue with your wiring. I recommend going over your wiring and check for any broken or damaged wiring and make sure there is no corrosion where the wires attach.
If the wiring is fine then I'd recommend doing a couple of tests to determine if the brake controller is the issue. You're going to want to sever the blue wire a couple of inches from the back of the controller. Once severed, use a circuit tester to test the blue wire coming out of the controller, looking for power when the manual override is applied.
If there is power when idling, then you for sure have short somewhere between the controller and the connector that you'd need to track down.
It also wouldn't hurt to check the actual 7 way for any debris or corrosion as this is a pretty common spot for that to build up and cause issues.
If you're still having issues after all of that come back and we can continue to troubleshoot.
