Hubs/Drums & Brake Controllers
Question:
Hi Kevin, thanks again for your suport, i really apreciate it. The thing is that is will be towing that with the little Jimny from time to time, thats the main reason for having brakes on the trailer. Also, the peruvian andes have some big descents in terrible road conditions, a pair of brakes would be very handy even on a regular truck. The photos i sent were from a simialr trailer, mine is still being build. What we are thinking with the mechanics is get the brakes and then adapt the rest here in Peru, were are prety confident that we can get the correc hangers, spindels and if not, we will make them. So, goin from there, can you quote me the pair of brakes for that load including the drums? it could be with the 6 hole patern i sent before or a five one if you dond have any of those available. i dont fully understand the diference of the 2 controllers, but looks like the wifiinch behaves more like a normal car brake right? like, its gonna be more progesive and thus, easely to handle or at least more comfortable. if so, i would like to have one of those in the quotation as well instead of the tekonsha. also, i would need an idea of the full weigh of the pakage for the import freigt. thank you very much.

I can't tell you what brakes and hub assembly to get until we know what spindle you have. The mounting patterns can vary and the diameter of the spindle can vary so until we have exact part measurements I'd just be guessing and could potentially tell you the wrong product.
As for the brake controllers, proportional brake controllers, like the Curt Echo # C51180, have an inertia sensor in them to match the braking intensity of the vehicle. If you slam on the brakes the brake controller will slam on the brakes for the trailer. If you lightly press on the brakes the brake controller will lightly apply the brakes on the trailer. There are also output settings for the brake controller so that you can really fine tune it to the weight of the trailer as well. Proportional brake controllers are definitely more comfortable than time-delay ones.
With time-delay brake controllers, like the Tekonsha POD # 39523 you just set the intensity and time delay and it always activates at that intensity. This means if you lightly press the brakes or slam on the brakes the brake controller would still put out the same intensity to the trailer brakes.
