Will the Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2004 Toyota Highlander and 2011 Volkswagen Routan

Question:

We own a 2004 Toyota Highlander and a 2011 VW Routan Minivan. Can you tell us if this rack would be an appropriate fit for both vehicles? If not, can you suggest a good universal one that would work. We need a model that could be used for men's and women's mountain bikes. Thank you!

The Thule OutWay trunk mount bike rack, # TH56BV, is listed as a fit for both your 2004 Toyota Highlander and your 2011 Volkswagen Routan. I have included a link to a video review of this rack for you.

You can carry both men's and women's bikes on this bike rack. But if the bikes do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # TH982XT. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
