Will the Elastic Straps for the etrailer Snoblock Windshield Cover Break Easily

What happens when the elastic straps for mirrors wear out? It seems it would be better with an adjustable web strap rather than elastic.

The elastic straps on the etrailer Snoblock Snow and Ice Windshield and Wiper Blade Cover # 288-06603 isn't actually under any tension so the strap really shouldn't wear out. The strap is there to simply keep the cover in place.
